Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries advanced as much as 3.4 percent in morning trade on the back of USFDA approval for generic Zetia tablets.

The company’s wholly owned subsidiaries have received final approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for a generic version of Zetia, (ezetimibe) tablets 10mg. The tablet Zetia is used to lower cholesterol in the blood. These generic ezetimibe tablets are therapeutic equivalents of Merck’s Zetia tablets.
