Radhakishan Damani-owned Avenue Supermarts, which runs a retail chain under the brand 'DMart', has now become a $10-billion market cap company after gaining 5.9% on Monday.The stupendous run-up in its stock price -251% since listing -has taken the retailer ahead of major companies such as GAILBSE 0.43 %, Godrej Consumer ProductsBSE -2.09 %, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Tata SteelBSE -0.23 % and Shree CementBSE -0.84 %.
It is now the 44th most valued company in the country. A market capitalization of other majors such as HPCLBSE 1.12 %, NestleBSE -0.97 %, Bosch, and Motherson SumiBSE -1.33 % are just a few percentage points ahead. With the company's market capitalization touching Rs 65,263 cr on Monday, Damani's net worth now stands at Rs 53,646 crore. His holding in the company at the end of June was 82.2%.
