Vedanta gains over 2% on bourses



Shares of Vedanta rebounded over 2 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the company clarified with reference to reports that it faces Sterlite like crisis in Orissa. The company informed that our refinery continues to operate as usual. We have not mined any bauxite from Niyamgiri. Following the announcement, stocks of the company gained as much as 2.43 per cent and touched an intra-day high of Rs 229.50 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

In a similar trend, shares of the firm were trading 1.96 per cent higher at Rs 228.70 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, the broader benchmark BSE Sensex was trading at 35,474.34, up 187.60 points, or 0.53 per cent at 11:20 hours.
