The breadth of the market favoured the declines as 447 stocks advanced and 1,225 declined while 444 remained unchanged on the NSE. On the BSE, 655 stocks advanced, 1,432 declined and 131 remained unchanged.
Benchmark indices are trading on a flat to negative note with Nifty down 16 points, trading at 11,262, while the Sensex is trading at 37,462.
At 11:45 hrs, Nifty PSU Bank is down 3 percent dragged by Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India and Bank of India.
Infra stocks are also trading in the red with loses from Adani Power, BHEL, CG Power, IRB Infra, GMR Infra, Engineers India, NCC, Reliance Communications, Reliance Power and Voltas.
From the media space, the top losers are Dish TV, Network18, TV Today and Zee Entertainment.
However, IT and FMCG stocks are trading in the green led by Tech Mahindra, TCS, HCL Tech and Infosys while from the FMCG space, the top gainers are HUL, ITC, Proctor & Gamble and Tata Global Beverage.
India VIX jumped 2.39 percent at 26.97 levels.
The top Nifty gainers include Bharti Infratel, Titan Company, Tech Mahindra, ITC and HUL while Eicher Motors, Indiabulls Housing Finance, YES Bank, Sun Pharma and L&T are the top losers.
The most active stocks are State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, YES Bank, Tata Steel and PC Jeweller.
