D-St Buzz: Over 100 stocks hit new 52-week low on NSE; Zee Ent, Tata Motors shed 3-5% each

The top Nifty gainers include BPCL, TCS, Bharti Airtel, Indian Oil Corporation and Tech Mahindra while Tata Motors, Titan Company, YES Bank, JSW Steel and Zee Entertainment are the top losers.


Dalal Street continues to trade on a negative note after Donald Trump dramatically increased pressure on China on Sunday to reach a trade deal, saying he would hike US tariffs on USD 200 billion worth of Chinese goods this week and target hundreds of billions more soon.

Nifty is down 87 points, trading at 11,624, while the Sensex is down 287 points and is trading at 38,696.

Nifty Metal is the underperforming sector down over 2 percent dragged by Jindal Steel & Power which is down 4 percent followed by Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, SAIL, Tata Steel and Hindustan Copper.

Nifty Auto is also trading in the red as Tata Motors shed 5 percent as the company may phase out small diesel cars. The other losers are Motherson Sumi Systems, Tata Motors DVR, Bharat Forge, Exide Industries, Amara Raja Batteries and Mahindra & Mahindra.


Selective media stocks are trading in the red led by Zee Entertainment which is down close to 3 percent followed by Dish TV, Hathway Cable, Network18, Zee Media and UFO Moviez.

From the banking space, YES Bank shed close to 4 percent after ICRA downgraded the stock while ICICI Bank ahead of its Q4 numbers is trading flat.

India VIX spiked 8.11 percent at 25.98 levels.

The most active stocks are Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, PC Jeweller, YES Bank and Tata Motors.

Stocks which hit 52-week high on the NSE included Aavas Financiers, 63 moons technologies, Fine Organic Industries and PVR.

On the other hand, 116 stocks hit new 52-week low on NSE including McLeod Russel, Reliance Home Finance, Leel Electricals, Mercator, McNally Bharat, Cyient, Amara Raja Batteries, MTNL, Adlabs Entertainment, UFO Moviez India, Biocon, Rallis India, Cadila Healthcare and TV Today Network among others.
